Maharashtra Faces Early ‘October Heat’; Malegaon Records 38.4°C, Temperatures Rise Across State
Pune, 6th October 2026: Maharashtra is witnessing an early spell of ‘October heat’ as the retreating monsoon remains weak and dry weather conditions prevail across the state. Several parts of Maharashtra recorded temperatures in the mid-to-high 30s on Sunday (October 4), with Malegaon recording the highest maximum temperature of 38.4°C.
Amaravati recorded 38°C, while Jalgaon and Santacruz recorded 37.4°C each. Dahanu recorded 37.9°C, Ratnagiri 37.7°C and Akola 37.1°C. The rise in temperatures has led to increasingly hot and uncomfortable conditions in several parts of the state.
According to weather experts, this year’s October heat has arrived nearly 15 days earlier than usual. The weakening of the retreating monsoon and the resulting dry and clear weather have contributed to the rise in daytime temperatures. Nighttime temperatures have also remained elevated, adding to the discomfort.
In Pune, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.8°C, while Ahilyanagar recorded 35°C. Solapur recorded 36.4°C, Mumbai 36.5°C, Satara 34.7°C and Kolhapur 33.2°C. Mahabaleshwar remained relatively cooler at 26.6°C.
In Vidarbha, Wardha recorded 36.5°C, Yavatmal 36°C, Chandrapur 35.4°C, Nagpur and Brahmapuri 35.2°C each, while Washim recorded 35°C. Gondia recorded 33.8°C and Buldhana 33.7°C.
The prevailing dry conditions and rising temperatures have prompted weather experts to advise people to remain cautious, particularly during peak afternoon hours. The combination of high daytime temperatures and warmer nights is expected to keep the weather uncomfortable across several parts of Maharashtra.
