Maharashtra government appoints four senior officers for effective Pune Coronavirus prevention operation

Mumbai, April 27, 2020: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar has taken another step to make the Coronavirus prevention operation in Pune city more effective and speedy. The number of COVID patients has increased to 1200 today.

As per Pawar’s instructions, Anil Kavade, Sachindra Pratap Singh, Saurabh Rao and Kaustubh Divegavkar, these four senior administrative officers have been specially appointed for the city of Pune. These officers will assist the Pune Divisional Commissioner and the Pune Municipal Commissioner in the fight against Corona.

An order to this effect was issued by the Chief Secretary’s Office today. Anil Kawade is the State Commissioner of Co-operation. Saurabh Rao is the Commissioner of Sugar. Sachindra Pratap Singh is the Commissioner of Animal Husbandry and Kaustubh Divegavkar is the Director of Groundwater Survey. All these four officers will take care of the basic responsibilities and provide services for Coronavirus outbreak prevention measures in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. It is hoped that the appointment of these senior officers will make the implementation of Coronavirus prevention measures in Pune more effective and comprehensive and will help in controlling the incidence of corona in the city sooner.

The numbers of Coronavirus positive patients in Pune are increasing at a rapid pace as more and more people are being tested for COVID19. Till 7.30 pm yesterday, the total tally had reached 1139 in areas under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The analysis of the total cases reveals that about 85 percent of the total patients are concentrated in seven out of 15 ward areas of Pune city.

According to PMC, there are 245 patients in Bhavani Peth, 163 in Dhole Patil Road, 142 in Shivajinagar-Ghole Road, 131 in Kasba-Vishrambaugwada, 127 in Yerwada, 61 in Dhankawadi-Sahakarnagar, 56 in Wanowrie-Ramtekdi, 32 in Bibvewadi, 32 in Hadapsar, 30 in Nagar Road, 16 in Kondhwa, 10 in Sinhagad Road, 9 in Warje-Karvenagar, 4 in Aundh-Baner and 2 in Kothrud-Bavdhan. The ward wise mapping could be done for only 1110 patients till now.
