Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma Hoists National Flag at Pune Vidhan Bhavan on 80th Independence Day
Pune, 15th August 2026: Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma hoisted the national flag at Vidhan Bhavan in Pune on Saturday as part of the main government ceremony marking India’s 80th Independence Day.
Following the flag-hoisting ceremony, Governor Varma met freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, elected representatives, citizens and government officials and employees, and extended his Independence Day greetings to them.
Among those present were Zilla Parishad president Virdhaval Jagdale, Mayor Manjusha Nagpure, MLAs Dr Neelam Gorhe and Bapusaheb Pathare, Divisional Commissioner Sheetal Teli-Ugle, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Pune Municipal Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi and Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill.

Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil, senior officers from the armed forces and various government departments, freedom fighters, ex-servicemen, public representatives, government officials and employees, citizens and school students also attended the ceremony.
The ceremony marked the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Pune, with participation from representatives of the administration, armed forces and the wider community.
