Ahilyanagar, 19th January 2026: In a swift and coordinated rescue operation, all 12 trekkers stranded for over 24 hours at Ajobagad hilltop in the Thane–Ahilyanagar–Nashik region were safely rescued following an SOS call on January 17, 2026.
The alert was received by an Indian Army officer posted at Ahilyanagar, who immediately coordinated with the district administration and activated a joint rescue response. The group included nine men and three women who had been stuck in the difficult terrain without safe access down the hill.

Teams from the Police Department and Forest Department (Wildlife Wing), along with local representatives and residents, launched a coordinated rescue and relief operation. The mission involved navigating steep and challenging terrain under low-visibility conditions.
After careful planning and steady execution, all 12 trekkers were successfully located, medically stabilised, and escorted down to the base at Khumset village. No serious injuries were reported, officials said.

Authorities praised the seamless civil–military coordination and the timely action of all agencies involved.
