Pune, June 23, 2020: The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) held in the state for admissions to different courses has been postponed until further notice due to the increasing number of Coronavirus cases in the state and the country. Over 6.96 lakh students across the state have applied for the entrance test this year.

The State CET Cell today issued a notification stating that it has postponed the examinations with regard to the concern expressed by parents about the safety and well-being of the students. The State CET Cell Commissioner stated that the dates would be declared later.

The MHT-CET is conducted for admissions to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses like Engineering, Pharmacy, Law, Agriculture, Education, Architecture, etc. While the examinations were supposed to be held starting from the first week of July, the State CET Cell has proposed dates starting from July 19 to August 5 for the different entrance tests.

State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant had tweeted on Monday that the MHT-CET will be postponed.
