Maharashtra Secures $500 Million USD from ADB for Health Sector Upgrade

Pune, 23rd November 2023: In a significant boost to Maharashtra’s health sector, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state has secured $500 million USD from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The funds are earmarked for the comprehensive upgradation of all medical colleges and attached tertiary hospitals across the state.

Acknowledging the pivotal role played by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and the ADB in facilitating this financial support, Fadnavis expressed gratitude in a tweet. The initiative aligns with his recent discussions with ADB officials, MITRA, and the Department of Medical Education.

This substantial injection of funds is expected to catalyze the ongoing efforts of the Maharashtra government, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, to enhance the healthcare infrastructure. The upgradation plan covers medical facilities in all districts of Maharashtra, emphasizing a holistic approach to healthcare accessibility.

Deputy CM Fadnavis emphasized the collaborative spirit behind this endeavor, highlighting its alignment with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The investment aims to contribute to the larger goal of building a resilient and robust healthcare system in Maharashtra, under the leadership and vision of PM Modi.
