Maharashtra ST Buses Fare May Increase By 17%

Pune, 12th July 2021: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has decided to increase passenger fares due to rising diesel rates and daily financial losses. The hike may be around 17%.
At present, about 10,000 ST buses are running daily in the state. The daily income is Rs eight crores. Due to the diesel price hike, ST is suffering losses of Rs two crore every day. On the one hand, due to the reduced number of passengers and on the other hand, due to the fuel price hike, the board of directors of ST decided to increase the ticket price by 17%.
However, in view of the current situation, the decision has not yet been implemented considering the extent to which it would be appropriate to shift the burden to ordinary commuters.
