Pune, 18th January 2025: The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has implemented a significant measure to curb cheating in the upcoming 10th and 12th grade examinations. The board has directed that exam centre directors, supervisors, and other exam-related personnel be appointed from schools and junior colleges different from those of the students taking the exams.

This decision affects both 10th and 12th grade state board exams, with approximately 31 lakh students expected to participate. The 12th-grade exams are scheduled from 11th February to 18th March, while the 10th-grade exams will take place from 21st February to 17th March.

Board Chairman Sharad Gosavi explained that this step is part of a broader initiative to ensure cheating-free examinations. It marks the first time such a decision has been implemented at the state level, moving beyond previous localized changes made at district or local levels.

In addition to these structural changes, the board is organizing a “Cheating-Free Awareness Week” from the 20th to 26th January, as part of the Chief Minister’s 100-day action plan and under the guidance of the Education Minister. This initiative includes a series of daily activities aimed at raising awareness about the importance of exam integrity.
