Maharashtra State Postpones Class 10th And 12th Examination; Education Minister Will Write To CBSE, ICSE, IB, Cambridge Boards To Reconsider Their Exam Dates

Pune, 12th April 2021: Considering the rising cases of the Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the state, State school education minister Varsha Gaikwad announced that the class 12th and 10th have been postponed to May and June respectively. Earlier, the class 12th examination was to begin on April 23, 2021, while class 10th was from April 29, 2021.

The new dates for the examination will be announced soon she said. She announced the decision on Twitter a while ago. In her message, she said, “the present circumstances are not conducive for holding exams. Your health is our priority.

She said, “Keeping in mind the schedule of entrance exams for a professional course, class 12th exams will be held by the end of May while that of 10th class will be held in June. We are closely monitoring the health situation. Fresh examination dates will be announced shortly”.

“The decision is the outcome of consultations with various stakeholders that include students, teachers, parents, elected representatives from across parties, academicians and tech giants-in the wake of rising coronavirus cases”, she added.

“During the consultations, various alternative assessment options were evaluated keeping the health, well-being and future of our students in mind. Postponing of the examination seemed to be the most pragmatic solution”, she mentioned.

She also said that the state will be writing CBSE, ICSE, IB And Cambridge boards, requesting them to reconsider their examination dates.
