Maharashtra TET 2024 to be Monitored by AI-enabled CCTV Cameras for Enhanced Security
Pune, 8th November 2024: The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), conducted by the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, will be held next Sunday (10th). If you are taking this exam, pay attention. Artificial intelligence (AI) will now monitor the exam to ensure no mistakes occur. A total of 18,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in classrooms for the TET examination. These cameras will broadcast live to the exam council’s war room. All cameras will be equipped with advanced AI-based services to monitor every movement in the classrooms.
The TET 2024 examination will take place at 1,023 centres across Maharashtra, with a total of 3,53,952 students registered. Of these, 1,52,605 students are registered for Paper 1, 2,01,347 for Paper 2, and 75,996 for both papers. As the TET exam is considered sensitive, this year the exam council will implement frisking, biometric attendance (face recognition), and AI monitoring via CCTV cameras for the first time. This was announced by Dr. Nandkumar Bedse, Chairman of the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, and Commissioner Anuradha Oak at a press conference.
Due to the use of AI through CCTV cameras, any overcrowding, invigilators standing still without making rounds, students rearranging their seats, or any other misbehaviour will trigger alarm bells in the control room. Immediate instructions will then be sent to the concerned Centre Director. A control room for all the districts has been set up within the Maharashtra State Council of Examination, Commissioner Anuradha Oak said.
This year, the OMR sheets will consist of three copies: one original and two carbonless copies. One carbonless copy will be kept safe in the conference, while the original copy will be used for further proceedings related to the results, explained Dr. Bedse. The exam will be conducted in multiple languages, including Marathi, English, Urdu, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati, and Sindhi. The Maharashtra State Council of Examination has also clarified that students must arrive at the examination centre one and a half hours before the exam starts.
The security check will be as follows:
Frisking: Every student and examination officer will be screened with the help of a metal detector upon entering the examination centre. As a result, students will not be allowed to bring any electronic devices or metal items into the centre.
Biometric and Face Recognition: The photo information provided by the examinees when filling out the application form will be collected. Biometric attendance will be taken upon arrival at the examination centre. Only after this will the student be admitted to the centre.
Use of CCTV Cameras and AI: CCTV cameras have been installed in each examination centre, examination hall, and the centre director’s room. Live feeds from these cameras will be broadcast to the Primary Education Officer’s offices in all Zilla Parishads and Maharashtra State Council of Examination. AI will be used to monitor movement in the classrooms.
