Pune, 30 April 2021: “We have been able to contain the spread of COVID19 due to restrictions and lockdown. Our estimate was that there might be 10 lakh positive active patients, but now it is 7 lakh cases. There is no need for a more strict lockdown in the state, people are following the restrictions”, said Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

He addressed the state through social media. “We are preparing for the third wave as predicted by experts. About 300 oxygen plants are being set up. We have now 11,700 ventilators which were about 3000 a year ago. Remdesivir injection demand is 50,000 per day. The centre was giving us about 43000 every day. Now we are getting 35,000 per day. I appeal to doctors and relatives of patients to use Remdesivir injection as per medical protocol. There can be severe side effects also if not used properly”, he added.
