November 16, 2018, Mangalore: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), part of the USD 20.7 billion Mahindra Group, today inaugurated its second Off-Road Training Academy in Mangalore under the Mahindra Adventure brand. Located in the Western Ghats, this new training academy is spread over 150 acres and offers state-of-the-art facilities and equipment that includes wireless-equipped Mahindra Thar 4×4 CRDe training vehicles.

The Mangalore Academy will run two courses; Basic Level – Getting Dirty and Intermediate Level – Trail Survivor. The Advanced Course, dubbed Global Explorer will continue to be held at the off-road academy headquarters in Igatpuri. These courses will be held on weekends, with the basic course starting on Saturday morning and ending post-lunch; the Trail Survivor course will begin on Saturday afternoon and conclude on Sunday. The Academy will also host tailor-made courses for Corporates.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Second Off-Road Training Academy, Mr. Bijoy Kumar Y, Chief of Adventure Initiatives, M&M Ltd said, “We are delighted to inaugurate the second Mahindra Adventure Off-Road Training Academy, after a successful run of the first such organized off-road academy in Igatpuri for five years. We are geared up to share the spirit of adventure with off-roading enthusiasts in this part of the country. Today, this community is growing at a steady pace. We hope that our off-road training academies will allow adventure enthusiasts to hone their skills as well as test the tough and rugged capability of Mahindra vehicles.”

Getting Dirty

This course is for rookie off-road enthusiasts. It’s an elementary course with a focus on allowing participants to enjoy 4×4 driving in a safe and controlled environment.

Trail Survivor

This course is one level above Getting Dirty. Tasks from Getting Dirty are included in Trail Survivor as well, but here the theory is more technical – delving deeper into the vehicle’s dynamics, and driving techniques. The obstacles are tougher, along with the added challenge of night off-roading.

The Igatpuri academy, which was set up in March 2013, has trained óver 1,600 drivers so far from across the country.
