Mahindra Thar Commands Lengthy Waiting Period Amidst Soaring Demand
25th November 2023: For those eyeing the new Mahindra Thar, exercise caution as the waiting period post-booking can be considerably long. Currently, Mahindra Thar holds the record for the highest waiting period in both the off-roading and SUV segments. Particularly, the rear-wheel-drive variant, especially the diesel hard top, is in the highest demand, leading to a waiting period of 70 weeks. In contrast, the petrol variant commands a more manageable 22-week waiting period, and the four-wheel-drive variant with a soft top requires a wait of 24 weeks.
The soaring demand for Mahindra Thar in the Indian market is met with an incremental increase in its price. August 2023 witnessed a staggering 68,000 units booked for the Thar. Its price range in the Indian market starts from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh ex-showroom Delhi, with a recent increase of Rs 43,000. Mahindra Thar offers two variants, AX (O) and LX, available in six color options: Everest White, Blazing Bronz, Aquamarine, Red Rage, Napoli Black, and Galaxy Grey. Featuring three engine options, the Thar is equipped with a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, LED DRL setup, manual AC controls, height-adjustable driver seat, steering wheel controls, an impressive music system, and a sliding interior floor.
Safety is paramount in the Thar, boasting a four-star safety rating from Global NCAP. Key safety features include two airbags in the front, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill haul assist, hill descent control, traction control, rear parking sensor with a camera, and a seat belt reminder for all passengers. Competing directly with Maruti Suzuki Jimmy and Force Gurkha, Mahindra Thar distinguishes itself with off-roading capabilities. Additionally, the Indian market can anticipate the arrival of the Mahindra Thar 5 Door, set to launch next year with advanced features and design enhancements, mirroring the upcoming five-door Force Gurkha in the following year
