4th January 2024: Mahindra is set to introduce its updated XUV400 Electric model in the Indian market shortly. As the largest SUV manufacturer in India, Mahindra’s vehicles enjoy considerable demand, placing the company as the fourth largest manufacturer in the country. The revamped XUV400 Electric aims to fortify Mahindra’s position in the electric vehicle sector, featuring a new array of enhancements that have surfaced in a recently leaked video.

The new XUV400 comes equipped with an enlarged 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system, a redesigned automatic climate control system, and updated AC vents. Additionally, it boasts a larger digital driver display, wireless charging, push-button start-stop engine, height-adjustable driver seat, an updated steering wheel, a redesigned central console, and an overall new premium-themed dashboard layout. While many elements have undergone upgrades, certain aspects have been retained from the previous generation model.

Regarding its battery and range, the XUV400 retains its existing battery pack options: a 34.5 kWh unit offering a claimed range of 375 km and a larger 39.4 kWh pack with a claimed range of 456 km. Both variants generate 150 bhp and 310 Nm of power in conjunction with the electric motor.

Charging the XUV400 Electric is facilitated by a 50kW DC fast charger that takes about 50 minutes to charge the vehicle from 0% to 80%. Additionally, a 7.2 kilowatt AC charger requires 6.5 hours for a full charge, while a 3.3 kWh home charger takes approximately 13 hours for complete charging.

Safety features of the XUV400 Electric include six airbags, electronic stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, hill hold and descent control, traction control, rear parking camera with sensors, among others.

Presently, the price range for the XUV400 in India spans from Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 19.39 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). However, the newly enriched variant is expected to carry a premium price tag upon its launch in the upcoming months.

Once launched, the XUV400 Electric will primarily compete with the Tata Nexon EV in the Indian market. Besides the Nexon EV, competitors like the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV are also expected to be significant contenders in this segment.
