Major Accident Causes Severe Traffic Jam On Pune-Solapur Highway; Investigation Underway
Uruli Kanchan, 21st May 2025: An accident involving a truck and a container near Uruli Kanchan on the Pune-Solapur Highway caused massive traffic disruption on Wednesday (21st May) morning. Although there were no casualties, both vehicles sustained significant damage, and traffic towards Pune came to a virtual standstill.
Reportedly, the said collision occurred at the busy Talwade Chowk, where a container attempting to turn towards Shindavane Road was struck forcefully by an oncoming truck from the Solapur side. The impact caused both vehicles to topple, blocking the highway and resulting in traffic congestion stretching over five to six kilometers.
Long queues of vehicles formed on the Pune-bound side, leading to major delays and frustration among commuters. The situation was further aggravated by heavy rains in the region, which had already been causing slower traffic movement.
Officers from the Uruli Kanchan Police Station, including Akshay Kamthe, Manoj Mohod, and Ashwajit Ratnaparkhe, promptly arrived at the scene and started to working on manage and ease the traffic jam. Further investigation is currently underway.
