Major Changes In Pune Police Force Soon! Guardian Minister Says Police Officials Will Be Deployed On Basis Of Abilities
Pune, 4th January 2023: There are signs that there will be a major reshuffle in the Pune Police Force soon. Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil, while talking to the media on Monday (2nd January), has made this point.
He said that the new Commissioner of Police is going to designate the officers in different police stations in the city and the decision will be based on their abilities. Patil also said that Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr is keeping a complete and close eye on the situation in the city and every incident.
An analysis has been started as to which officer will be useful in which area to prevent crime and arrest criminals. In the past few days, some parts of the city have been on the rampage by the goons, while it is seen that in some places two gangs have clashed. In this regard, a case has been registered in different police stations. Criminals have also been arrested for registered offenses. Just two days ago, two groups of goons clashed in Uttamnagar, Warje area. Koyta (chopper) and stone were used in the fight. All senior police officers were in Bhima-Koregaon for the upcoming event when this incident took place.
It is clear from the statistics that there has been a tremendous increase in crimes in Pune. After comparing the crimes committed and solved between 2021 and 2022, the year 2022 shows an increase in murder, attempted murder, fraud, violence against women, and vehicle theft in the city. Street crime has also increased tremendously.
In recent times, children under the age of 16 are also seen committing serious crimes on a large scale. Pune Police is currently making an action plan to curb crime and keep minors away from crime. Meanwhile, the situation in the precincts of several A-grade police stations in the city is appalling. In some police stations, instances of the complainants (applicants) joining hands with non-applicants without registering a complaint can also be noticed in some videos circulated on social media.
Some Inspectors of the Pune City Police have been working on Executive Posting i.e. in charge of A-Grade Police Stations for the few years. Several serious incidents have also taken place within the respective police station limits while gangs have terrorized the people in suburbs of the city. As the problems of the citizens were not solved by the police, sometimes hundreds of activists thronged the police station. Illegal businesses are also found to be running rampantly within the confines of important police stations.
Citizens inform the city control room about illegal businesses. Then the CRO or concerned police officer informs the officer in charge of that police station. Even after that, it is not noticed by the senior police inspector of the concerned police station. Not only this, but the control room also does not receive reports regarding illegal businesses. An information table of crimes and incidents happening in the city is prepared daily. There is also a note written that an action report has not been received even after informing a specific police station.
Traffic Branch, Special Branch, Economic Offences Wing, and Crime Branch were treated as side branches (Non-Executive Branch). However, now police officers are struggling to get appointed to Pune Police Crime Branch.
Many officers and constables are feeling blessed to work in the social security branch. In recent times, some police inspectors in the crime branch are engaged in investigating complaint applications only and exclusively. Now only applications and inquiries are being seen in the crime branch, whose main duties are to eliminate crime syndicates and to track down criminals. In many investigations, police officers and staff are hobnobbing with the accused persons named in the complaints.
