Malware cyber attack on Cosmos Bank servers, Hackers transfer Rs 94.42 crores

Pune – After Punekarnews.in reported that customers of Cosmos Bank are facing problems for last 2-3 days in doing transaction due to server problem, it has been confirmed now that their server was hacked.

The criminals had hacked the server located at the bank’s head office on Ganeshkhind Road, on August 11 and transferred Rs 78 crores to accounts out of India. They have also transferred Rs 2.5 crores to accounts in different parts of the country.
On August 13, they transferred Rs 13.92 crores to a bank account in Hong Kong.

A bank officer Suhas Subhash Gokhale has filed FIR with Chatushrungi police station against unidentified persons and ALM Trading Limited, Hong Kong.

Police have booked the criminals for offences under sections 120B (criminal conspiracy), 379 (theft), 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of Information Technology (IT) Act.

Earlier, we had reported how Cosmos Bank customers are facing problems.

Sanjay Gaikwad, a resident of Dapodi,was in a que for long time in a mall for shopping, when his turn came his Cosmos Bank ATM was not working. When he visited a nearby ATM, then also he could not withdraw cash.

Jay Patel of Khadki, who has salary account in Cosmos Bank, said , “I had to buy medicines but had to borrow money from a friend as I could not withdraw cash.”

People said that they have been facing the problem for last 2-3 days. Bank officials in various branches on Monday had told Punekarnews.in that servers are down and they are not aware by when it will be functional.
