Hinjawadi security guard dies of Coronavirus; Total 31 positive cases in PCMC, Dapodi, Kasarwadi sealed

Pimpri, April 12, 2020: A 45-year-old man undergoing treatment YCM hospital in Pimpri died due to Coronavirus. He is the first person to have succumbed to the deadly virus in Pimpri-Chinchwad, where the number of total Coronavirus positive cases has reached 31 out of which 12 have been cured.

According to officials, the deceased worked as security guard at a private company in Hinjawadi. He was detected COVID19 positive on April 10. His condition was serious for the last one week.

Meanwhile, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has sealed areas of Dapodi and Kasarwadi as many positive patients have been detected there. Nobody will be allowed to move out or enter these areas. All residents have been ordered to wear a mask. PCMC has already sealed parts of Thergaon, Kharalwadi, Chikhali and Dighi.

PCMC Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that Corona infection has created a health emergency in the city. Considering the number of affected patients in the city, it is necessary to limit the movement of citizens in some areas.

As per the information available Pune district health officer, the total number of Coronavirus Positive patients has reached 282 till 5 pm today. A total of 29 of them have died, while 38 have been cured and discharged from hospitals. Therefore, there are 215 active cases in the district.

According to officials, out of 282, there are 237 from Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) areas, 31 from PCMC areas, 2 from Pune Cantonment Board and 12 from Pune rural areas. One patient from Khadki is under treatment at YCM Hospital in Pimpri.

There has been an increase of 918 new #COVID19 cases and 31 deaths in last 24 hours across the country taking India’s total number of #Coronavirus positive cases to 8447 (including 7409 active cases, 765 cured/ discharged/ migrated and 273 deaths), according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
