Marathwada Mitra Mandal hosts convocation in the presence of Dr. Abhay Wagh- Director, Directorate of Technical Education
Pune: Around 900 students from six colleges under the umbrella of Marathwada Mitra Mandal were awarded their degrees in the convocation ceremony which concluded on 11th March. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Dr. Abhay Wagh, Director, Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra. These students hailed from faculties such as Pharmacy, Engineering, Architecture, Law, Commerce.
The welcome speech at this event was given by Dr. M. D. Lawrence, the Principal of MMCC. Addressing the gathering, he said, “It gives me immense pleasure to be present at this convocation and Golden Jubilee year of Marathwada Mitra Mandal. In the presence of our honorable guests. I firmly believe that it is a confluence of diverse thoughts and ideas which makes an institute grow and reach even greater heights. I can say with conviction that today’s graduates stand by this very principle of diversity at Marathwada Mitra Mandal. My only message to these youngsters now is step out and makes your alma mater proud.”
Speaking at the convocation, Dr. Abhay Wagh, the Director of DTE said, “In today’s Economic front, India is called as best young performing country. Major sectors like Agriculture, Industrial, Manufacturing, Technology, etc. are contributing maximum to GDP. But, all of these sectors cannot contribute satisfactorily to GDP . Industrial sector is not able to contribute more than 28%, same manufacturing industries are contributing nearly 17-18% to GDP. This can only be achieved by technological front, wherein we can take contribution of Industrial sector to 90% of India’s GDP by the year 2025.” To reach this goal he further said, “Not only we need to change the type of education, but the tools of technology and skills will add valuable inputs to industry. Students should get industrial and skill based education, so that they soon become a successful entrepreneur and make India a five trillion dollar economy.”
Further on this occasion, Prin. B.G. Jadhav, Executive President (MM Trust) mentioned, the Success stories of the students who have been performing their bests in different industries from past 50 years. Passed out students still to be the part of our campus. The success of students is more important for Marathwada Mitra Mandal.
The ceremony was held at MMCOE ground, Karvenagar in the presence of executive committee members of Marathwada Mitra Mandal which included, Prin. B G Jadhav- Executive President, Vice-Presidents- Dr. M V Suryawanshi and Dr. Sampatrao Jadhav, Deputy Executive President- Dr N V Biradar, Secretary-Shri. K H Mungale, Treasurer-Shri. Annasaheb Pawar , Joint Secretaries – N T Kitekar and Sanjay Garge, Principals of all colleges, faculty members and other dignitaries.
Prof. V.B. Deokambale proposed vote of thanks. The program was hosted by Prof. P.K. Tamkhade and Dr. (Mrs.) Sujata Shennai.
