Mass Marriage Ceremony at Punyadham Ashram on 26thJanuary
21 JAN 2019 : Punyadham Ashram is organizing ‘Mass Marriage’ of couples from humble backgrounds on 26th January 2019, and this is the 4th consecutive year when this noble ceremony is being organized here. This unique institution is trying to bring about a change in the mindset of the populace by discouraging the custom of dowry.
Punyadham Ashram- primarily a Senior Citizens’ Home, a project by Vishwa Jagriti Mission Trust Pune runs a number of social welfare programs – sponsoring education of deserving students, organizing Medical Camps especially in Yerwada Jail, skill development of women & young girls, etc., and the Mass Marriage ceremony is a very significant one. The young couple is gifted a complete ‘Trousseau’ with wedding attire, necessary household items for them to embark on a happy wedded life.
This ceremony is scheduled on Saturday, January 26th Muhurat at 12.47pm at Krishna Avtaar Sanskritik Bhavan with gracious presence of Chairperson Maa Krishna Kashyap, President Sadananda Shetty and Trustees. A number of distinguished guests- Hon’ble Shri Babasaheb Purandare, Mrs. Lalit & Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, Ms. Ritu Prakash Chhabria, Managing Trustee of Mukul Madhav Foundation among others are also expected to grace the occasion to bless the newly-weds. More than 4000 guests are expected to attend this unique event.
