McDonald’s AC compressor falls on children celebrating birthday

Pune : A woman has posted horror of her life on Facebook alleging negligence by McDonald outlet at Balewadi High Street on Sunday.
Nilangu Manjari, a cake artist as per her Facebook profile, posted on Monday, “Hi Everyone!Just sharing my worst experience of yesterday. It was a big day for my family as my daughter turned 8 yesterday. It was a biggest day for her as many of us know how kids wait the whole year for their birthday.We all were super excited and my daughter was on cloud nine. Everything was going according to plan.”
She further added, “We had Booked #Mcdonald #balewadhighstreet #twoweekbefore .pls mind #twoweekbefore to be on the safest side and just to avoid rushing on the last minute.we got time slot 12-1:30 and was said after 1:30 it would be additional charges ₹500 for extra half an hour.we had no problem and we agreed.Everything was going smoothly and we were completely enjoying the party .It was 1:40 and the party was about to get over. Me and my friend gang and kids were taking the last pics before windup. All of sudden a big boom sound and we were panic!it was a big chaos and everyone screaming and running for their life. Before I could understand what happened saw my 13 years son screaming holding his leg, all oil over his head.The one big part of ceiling fell of with a heavy #80kgaccompressor it was a big chaos .The ac work was going on the top and that #80kgcompressor slipped off and it broke the ceiling and fell of with a loudest boom.just imagine the force and unfortunately my son hurt his leg while saving all small children who were near him.He just pushed them and was running for his life but unfortunately the ceiling fell off on his leg and he was hurt.He got checked and now under medication .My daughter who was all excited for her birthday now keep saying it was #worstbirthday. why it happened to me & my party?? As a parent I m feeling helpless not able to make them understand why this happened?Can see sorrow &fear on face of everyone but can’t help.cant stop tears rolling down my eyes.won’t let it go like this.Guys! My questions are how can a restaurant allow any repair work when party is going? When they had given me that time slot how can they call the ac servicing guy at the same time ?”
She claimed to have lodged complaint with police also.
“This is a sure case of #negligence. We have lodged a complain against them in Chatushrungi police station.”
The police have registered a case for offence under section 337 (causing hurt by a negligent act endangering life or personal safety) of the Indian Penal Code.
Official statement from McDonald’s (HRPL) on the Balewadi restaurant incident, “We regret the unfortunate and unforeseen incident at our restaurant in Balewadi. The one kid who suffered a minor cut on his thigh, was immediately rushed to the hospital by our staff and is doing fine now. We remain committed to highest standards of safety and security and will duly investigate the reason behind this mishap.”
