Mercedes-Benz Launches All-New G 450d in India, Expands G-Class Line-up with Diesel, Petrol, and Electric Variants
Pune, 13th October 2025: Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new G 450d, marking the first time that the iconic G-Class will be available in India with diesel, petrol, and electric powertrains. Priced from ₹2.90 crore (ex-showroom, all India), the new G 450d is powered by a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder diesel engine featuring 48V mild-hybrid technology, offering a blend of high performance, refinement, and efficiency.
In its initial phase, only 50 exclusive units of the G 450d will be available for select customers in India.
“The new G 450d underlines our commitment to offer diesel, petrol and electric powertrain options for the first time in India to the G-Class—the longest-running nameplate in the automotive industry,” said Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India. “The G 450d ensures there’s now a G-Class for every customer requirement in India, elevating practicality along with the cult status of this iconic SUV,” he added.
Powerful and Efficient Diesel Engine
The G 450d features a 3.0L inline 6-cylinder engine producing 270 kW (362 hp) and 750 Nm of torque, assisted by a 48V integrated starter generator that adds 15 kW during acceleration. The SUV sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 210 km/h.
Its legendary off-road DNA continues with ladder-frame construction, three mechanical differential locks, and a combination of double-wishbone independent front suspension with a rigid rear axle. The G 450d maintains up to 100% gradeability, 241 mm ground clearance, and a 70 cm fording depth, reaffirming its dominance as an off-road leader.
Refined Design and Luxury Interiors
The SUV sports a new front bumper with vertical louvers, aerodynamic A-pillar cladding, and a roof-edge spoiler lip that enhance both design and acoustic comfort. Inside, the G 450d exudes sophistication with two-tone Nappa leather upholstery, Burmester 3D Surround Sound with Dolby Atmos, and customizable ambient lighting.
The latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system brings advanced features like Augmented Reality Navigation, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and 12.3-inch dual displays. The new off-road cockpit provides essential information such as compass direction, tire pressure, and steering angle, with a “Transparent Hood” function for better terrain visibility.
Customers can also opt for MANUFAKTUR customization, offering bespoke paint finishes, upholstery, and design trims.
Enhanced Safety and Technology
The G 450d is equipped with a comprehensive ADAS suite, including active brake assist, lane-keeping assist, and a 360-degree camera system. Additional comfort comes from adaptive damping suspension and DYNAMIC SELECT driving modes, allowing the SUV’s performance to be tailored for comfort, sport, or off-road adventures.
Introducing the G-Tribe Escapade
In celebration of the launch, Mercedes-Benz India also announced the ‘G-Tribe Escapade’, an exclusive SUV adventure experience for select customers. Conducted in collaboration with Cougar Motorsport, the first edition—‘G-Tribe Bhutan Escapade’—will take place between November and December 2025, featuring luxury drives from India to Thimphu, Punakha, and Paro. Participants will drive a curated fleet including the AMG G 63, G 580 EQ, GLS, GLE 450 4MATIC, and AMG GLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupé.
