Pune, 22nd May 2024: The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) Pune Board has opened applications for 4,777 houses across five districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur, catering to various income groups. However, due to a low response from citizens, MHADA has extended the application deadline until May 30, with only nine days remaining for applicants to apply.

The lottery announcement was made by the MHADA Pune board in March, initiating the application process on March 8. Originally, the deadline for online application registration was April 8 at 5 PM. However, with only 16,000 applications received during this period, the deadline has been extended until 11:59 PM on May 30. Additionally, the number of houses in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad has been increased by 100 to encourage more participation.

Prospective applicants are urged to visit http://www.mhada.gov.in or https://mhada.gov.in to fill out the online application form for the MHADA housing lottery, and lottery.mhada.gov for flats available under the first-come-first-served scheme. The MHADA Pune Board has emphasized the importance of registering on these official websites.

The breakdown of available flats and schemes is as follows:
First-come-first-served priority under MHADA scheme: 2,416
Various schemes of MHADA: 18
MHADA Pradhan Mantri Awas (PMAY) Scheme: 59
Pradhan Mantri Awas (PMAY) Private Partnership Scheme (PPP): 978
20 percent scheme of Pune Municipality and Pimpri-Chinchwad: 1,406
With the deadline extension, MHADA aims to increase participation and provide more citizens with the opportunity to secure affordable housing through the lottery scheme.
