Mindful Parenting Program kick started in Pune
Pune, January 7, 2019: Parents tend to play crucial role in the upbringing of a child. And It is important for parents to recognize the direction in which they need to lead their children. To create awareness about this and improve parenting skills, city based Kannada Sangha’s Kaveri Group of Institutes in association with Greater Good Science Center, University of California, Berkeley, has launched ‘Mindful Parenting Program’.
Mukta Tilak, Mayor – Pune, Nithya Shanti, International Spiritual Teacher, Malti Kalmadi, Secretary, Kannada Sangha, Kushal Hegde, President, Kannada Sangha, Kamini Saxena, Management Facilitator, Kannada Sangha graced the launch of ‘Mindful Parenting Program’ on Saturday. Vijayam Kartha, Jyoti Kumta, Sundar Iyyer and Ashwini Mubarak, Core Members of the team of the program, Radhika Sharma, Jt. Speaking on the occasion, Mukta Tilak said that, There are many problems associated with the urban life where many a times parents fail to give quality time to their children. We get to read about cases in which children get into some argument with parents or something does not happen as per their wish, and they have committed suicides. Modern day technology is helping us in a way, but to other extent, technology is also destroying us. In such stressful situation, a program like ‘Mindful Parenting’ is a good initiative. I request Kaveri Group of Institutes to take it forward and to extend help for implementing it in municipal schools. So that parents from underprivileged families can also work in this manner for the betterment of their children.
Nithya Shanti shared some stories and life experiences with the audience and emphasized that becoming a good human being facilitates the person to become a good parent too. He mentioned that as a human we constantly need to update ourselves just like we update our phone and apps. Adding further he said, Between stimulus and response there is a gap where the wisdom lives and our job is to expand this gap.
Mindful journey is the journey of self-discovery. As a parent one should recognize and nurture the genius of their child., Nithya Shanti exclaimed.
Adding further to the program Malati Kalmadi said, when the parent is developed then the child is developed. Hence, development of parent is very important. She informed, ‘Mindful Parenting Program’ is a two year long program where special lectures related to parenting will be conducted.
