Missing Girl Found Safe In Alandi Devachi After Extensive Search By Pune Police
Pune, 24th December 2024: Pune Police launched a search operation to find a 10-year-old girl who did not return home after school. Based on the girl’s journey on a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus, the information provided by the bus driver, and a tip-off received by a senior officer of the Anti-Extortion Squad, the police began searching for her in the Alandi Devachi area around dawn. The girl was safely reunited with her family.
The missing girl, Shravani Ravindra Gawali (10 years old, resident of Dhankawadi), went missing on 20th December while walking home from school in the afternoon. Her parents quickly filed a missing person complaint at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station. Crime Branch Units, along with local police, were assigned to search for her. The team prioritized reviewing CCTV footage, gathering information from reporters, and exploring the possibility of anti-coup operations.
Senior Police Inspector Vijay Kumbhar identified the girl in CCTV footage, where she was seen boarding a PMPML bus at Trimurti Chowk in Dhankawadi. Assistant Police Inspector Prashant Sande received information that the girl’s relatives were in the Alandi Devachi area. The team notified Alandi police and searched. By then, it was past midnight. A pedestrian informed the police that the girl was in the same area, and she was spotted at a distance. The girl told the police that her aunt had brought her there.
Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar said, “The local police, along with the Crime Branch, did an excellent job in locating the missing girl from the Dhankawadi area, and she has been safely handed over to her parents.”
