MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) inaugurates 7th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad in presence of students and dignitaries at MIT Campus, Pune

17 January 2017, Pune: MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) today inaugurated 7th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad at their MIT Campus in Pune in the presence of 10000+ students and prominent dignitaries. Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS) is an initiative aimed at channelizing the youth towards strengthening of democracy and tackling issues related to nation building. This event invites students from colleges and institutions across the country. Chief guest Shri. Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports inaugurated the session by lighting a traditional lamp and ringing the bell of democracy along with other respected dignitaries.   

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Prof. Rahul Karad, Founder and Dean, MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG), said, “Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad is critical to develop a sense of character and the right ideals among the youth. It gives them an opportunity to interact with some of the best minds in the country and interact with the youth from across all 27 states of the country. The bench mark has been set high by the previous 6 BCS, and I am confident this year the bar will be raised even higher. I welcome you all to this 7th edition of BCS and hope you contribute and take back immensely from all that BCS has to offer”

Shri. Vijay Goel, Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports said, “I am extremely happy to be amongst you at the 7th edition of BCS organized by MIT-SOG. MIT was started by Prof. Vishwanath Karad in mere 5 classrooms, and today Rahul has made it one the biggest institutes in the country. Today, I will like to tell the gathering that it is extremely important for the youth to take part in all opportunities available to them. This is the age to decide how to shape your life. I hope you keenly take part in all the sessions at BCS and hope you benefit enormously from this conference.”      

MIT SOG also awarded some their prominent guests with the following awards:

Life Time Achievement Award to Shri. Somnath Chatterjee, Veteran leader, Former Speaker, Loksabha
Ideal Chief Minister Award to Shri. Manik Sarkar, Chief Minister of Tripura
Gargi Award to Adv. Vandana Chavan, Women Member of Parliament for contribution in Women Empowerment & Parliamentary Practices
The inaugural session was attended by Shri. Vijay Goel – Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports; Prof. Rahul Karad, Founder and Dean, MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG); Shri.
