MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) to host the 7th Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS) conclave

Pune, 5th January, 2017: The seventh Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS), organized by the MIT School of Government (MIT-SOG) will be held at the Pune MIT campus from January 17 to 19, 2017. Mr. Rahul Karad, Founder & Dean, MIT-SOG, Dr. Shailashree Haridas – Associate Director, MIT-SOG addressed the press today to announce the event.

Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (BCS) is a first-of-its-kind initiative, aimed at channelizing the youth towards the strengthening of democracy and tackling issues related to nation-building. This event invites students from colleges and institutions from across the country. The 7th edition of BCS will have prominent personalities from different walks of life providing their views on a range of topics regarding India’s progress and development as an emerging global power.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rahul Karad, Founder & Dean, MIT-SOG said, “At MIT-SOG we are committed to the task of creating leaders for tomorrow, who have the required dedication for nation-building. BCS is critical to developing a sense of character and the right ideals among the youth, and giving them an opportunity to interact with some of the best minds in the country. The overwhelming response to the last 6 editions has positioned BCS as a platform for the youth of the country, where they can share their views and concerns on the issues pertaining to them.”

Dr. R A Mashelkar, renowned scientist and head of MIT-SOG’s academic council couldn’t attend the press conference but send his regards saying that , “We have conceptualized this student parliament with the noble objective of empowering and enriching the Indian youth. I would like to thank Shri. Devendra Fadnavis – Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra for supporting this endeavor by becoming the Chief Patron. The youth has to play an active role in democracy and BCS is a training ground for young and bright minds committed to leading society, to leading positive political changes and strengthening democracy.”

Registration fee for students is Rs 900/- and college identity card/university details are compulsory.  For corporates registration charges are Rs 1500/-.
