Pune, 12th April 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has been ordered to repair e-toilets immediately, according to the latest announcement by Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar.

This decision was made after Siddharth Shirole, MLA of Shivajinagar assembly constituency, raised concerns about the number of e-toilets in the city that have been closed due to a lack of maintenance.

During a meeting held today, MLA Shirole stressed the urgency of the issue and suggested that the closed e-toilets should be repaired and made usable. He also highlighted the importance of keeping public toilets in slums clean and equipped with facilities to avoid inconvenience for residents in Shivajinagar constituency.

The commissioner gave a favorable response to the demand and promised to take measures to ensure that the toilets are equipped with proper water, drainage, and electrical systems. He also assured that cleanliness and repair of the toilets will be a priority.

In addition to addressing the e-toilet issue, MLA Shirole suggested several other measures that need to be taken to improve the infrastructure and cleanliness of Pune. He raised concerns about the waterfowl problem in the rivers of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city, and suggested that the concerned authorities take action to remove aquatic algae.

To keep the city’s rivers and religious places clean and beautiful, Shirole suggested that the riverside religious places take responsibility for segregating and disposing of items such as Nirmalya, idols, and decorative materials in wet clean places.

Moreover, he suggested that the Municipal Corporation should decide on a policy for the survey and protection of existing wells in the city, as well as the conservation of new wells. He also called for the construction of a flyover or grade separator at Yerwada on Alandi Pandharpur Palkhi Marg, the establishment of a bottleneck committee to remove bottlenecks in major road projects, and the provision of facilities for Aundh Kuti Hospital.

Finally, Shirole recommended the completion of the Sangamwadi tank, replacement of drinking water lines in Khadki areas, and the scrapping and repair of the statue of Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Deccan.

The commissioner has given orders to the concerned authorities to take action from the Pune Municipal Corporation as soon as possible regarding these issues. Moreover, he promised to make provisions for the segregation and disposal of materials from religious places from the CSR fund.
