Mumbai-Pune Expressway to Undergo Three-Hour Closure Today from 12 to 3 PM, Alternative Routes Advised
Pune, 30th November 2023: An important update for travelers using the Mumbai-Pune Expressway today: a three-hour block is scheduled from 12 PM to 3 PM. During this period, the traffic will be halted on the expressway due to construction work involving placing 50-ton girders for a bridge between Khopoli and Palasdhari. As a result, alternative routes will be advised for commuters during the blocked hours.
This block will affect the traffic flow significantly, particularly near the Khopoli Toll Plaza. Commuters traveling from Pune to Mumbai during this time are suggested to use alternative routes, which would add approximately a one-kilometer extra distance via the Pune lane.
In recent months, such blocks have become somewhat frequent on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, causing inconvenience to commuters. However, this particular block is anticipated to be more impactful, leading to substantial traffic disruptions for three hours. To mitigate accidents and reduce their frequency on this expressway, intelligent traffic management systems have been deployed, part of a substantial project costing around 340 crore rupees.
