Kharadi, 8th May 2025: In a shocking turn of events, a 30-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room in the Kharadi area of Pune on the day of Rangpanchami, 15th March. The incident stirred the locality as the deceased, identified as Akash Sunil Sable, had reportedly partied with friends, consuming biryani and alcohol before his untimely death. Initially recorded as an accidental death by the Chandannagar Police, a subsequent post-mortem report from Sassoon Hospital revealed a chilling detail — Sable’s death was caused by strangulation.

Following the revelation, police registered a murder case against a rickshaw driver and two of Sable’s friends; identified as Shashikant Machhindra Ghorpade (34), Rohit Anand More (23), and Yash Raghunath Dange (21). A complaint was filed by Prashant Sadashiv Mane, leading to the arrest of all three suspects.

According to the investigation, Akash Sable, Rohit More, and Yash Dange were friends, while Shashikant Ghorpade was the rickshaw driver who brought Sable to Kharadi on 14th March. The group met to celebrate Rangpanchami and later proceeded to a hotel in the Pathare Vasti area, where they ordered biryani and consumed alcohol. Following the party, Sable stayed back in the hotel room.

The next day, when the hotel manager couldn’t open Sable’s room door, he used a master key and discovered Sable’s lifeless body on the bed. Upon receiving information, the Chandannagar Police arrived at the scene and initially registered a case of accidental death. However, the autopsy report confirmed that Sable was strangled, leading to the reclassification of the case as murder.

The investigation is currently being led by Police Inspector Swati Khedkar, who is probing the circumstances and motive behind the murder, with further inquiries underway.
