Musical event ‘Abhivadan’ to pay tribute to Pt. Bhimsen Joshi

Pune, February 19, 2020: To remember the contribution of great Vocalist Pt. Bhimsen Joshi to the Indian Classical Music, Kalashree Sangeet Mandal and Kannada Sangha have organized a unique musical event named  ‘Abhivadan’. The event will take place on Saturday, February 22, at 5 pm, at Shakuntala Shetty Auditorium, Dr. Kalmadi Shamarao High School, Ganeshnagar.

Pt. Bhimsen Joshi’s birthday falls in February. This is also the month in which he was awarded by the highest honor of the country- ‘Bharatratna’.  The event will mark these two occasions and present a musical tribute to Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. The entry to the event is free and open for all on first come first serve basis.

The event will be opened with the performance of Shashwati Chavhan, disciple of vocalist Sudhakar Chavhan. She will be followed by Viraj Joshi, young vocalist and grandson of Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. Puneites will also get a chance to listen to Aarti Ankalikar- Tikekar, renowned vocalist of Jaipur- Atrauli Gharana and Shujat Khan, renowned Sitarist. The event will be concluded with the performance of Prabha Are, veteran vocalist of Kirana Gharana.
