Nadroop to organize a unique festival of choreography in Pune

Pune, August 27, 2019 : Punekars will get a chance to attend a unique dance show, featuring 4 proverb-based choreographies of diverse moods and themes, by young disciples of veteran kathak guru, Shama Bhate. The program has been organized by Nad-roop, Pune to pay tribute to legendary Madame Menaka and will take place on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Annabhau Sathe auditorium, Bibavewadi at 6.30 pm onwards. The event is free and open for all.

A special performance will also be presented at the event for school students between 2 pm and 4 pm on the same day at Annabhau Sathe auditorium, Bibavewadi (Friday, August 30, 2019).

The compositions will be based on proverbs of four languages including English, Hindi, French and African. A dance choreographed by Shama Bhate will relate to a proverb- ‘Unity is strength’ from Hindi language, which is a story of birds trapped in a net, flying away together in unity. Another dance sequence performed by Nikhil Parmar and Meghana Rao will be based on an African proverb- ‘Until the lions learn to write, every story will glorify the hunter’, which will explore through contemporary dance, Kathak and Kalaripayattu with an interesting set design and vibrant music.

An intriguing composition based on English proverb- ‘The more you see, the less you know for sure’ that deals with a mystery will be choreographed by Avani Gadre, while a composition based on French proverb- ‘The cloak does not make a monk’ has been explored by Ameera Patankar.
