Nagal, Adkar Win Singles Titles; Double Crown for Dubey at 43rd PSPB Inter-Unit Lawn Tennis Tournament
Pune, 30th November 2024: Sumit Nagal and Vaishnavi Adkar won the men’s and women’s singles titles, respectively, while Rajkumar Dubey clinched a double crown at the Bharat Petroleum-organized 43rd PSPB Inter-Unit Lawn Tennis Tournament, which concluded at the Deccan Gymkhana Tennis Courts.
In the men’s event, Sumit Nagal of Indian Oil Limited registered a 6-4, 6-3 win over ONGC’s Vishnu Vardhan. In the women’s singles, BPCL’s Vaishnavi Adkar claimed the title, defeating Riya Bhatia of IOCL 6-3, 6-3.
Rajkumar Dubey won the double crown in the veterans’ event, claiming both the singles and doubles titles. In the singles, BPCL A’s Dubey registered an 8-6 win over Munesh Sharma, also of BPCL A. In the doubles, Dubey, in partnership with Sharma, defeated Siddharth Bharali and Diganta Bora of OIL 6-4, 6-3.
In the veteran team event, ONGC edged out IOCL 2-1 to win the title. Rohan Boppana of IOCL, Vaishnavi Adkar, and Rajkumar Dubey of BPCL were adjudged the best players of the tournament in the men’s, women’s, and veteran categories, respectively.
The winners received trophies and medals at the prize distribution ceremony, held in the presence of VRK Gupta, Director Finance of BPCL; former Davis Cup coach Nandan Bal; D. Parthasarathy, General Manager (HR) of BPCL; and Deepak Jain, GM Sports of Bharat Petroleum.
