Nagpur: CBI Arrests Chartered Accountant and CGST Joint Commissioner In Rs 4 Lakh Bribery Case

Nagpur, 4th March 2022: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Chartered Accountant and a Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur in an alleged bribery of Rs Four Lakh.

 

Name of the arrested accused:–

i) Hemant Rajandekar, Chartered Accountant

ii) Mukul Patil , Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2

 

A case was registered against a Chartered Accountant on a complaint alleging demand of bribe of Rs 4,50,000/- as a motive to induce Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 and for showing favour in service tax matter. It was further alleged that the Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-2 had issued a Show Cause Notice pertaining to service tax liability in the name of the Complainant. It was also alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 4,50,000/- to get the service tax liability case disposed off.

 

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting the negotiated bribe amount of Rs four lakh from the complainant.

 

Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to the recovery of several incriminating documents. A cash amounting to Rs 7.4 Lakh(approx) & 250 Gm (approx) Gold and one Locker key were also recovered from the premises of Joint Commissioner, CGST, Nagpur-II.

 

Both the arrested accused are being produced today before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Nagpur.
