Nagpur Violence: Pune Police Commissioner Orders Heightened Security, Urges Public to Avoid Rumors

Pune, 18th March 2025: In response to recent violence in Nagpur, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has ordered heightened security across the city and its surrounding areas. He has also appealed to citizens to refrain from believing or spreading rumors.
The unrest erupted on Monday night in the Mahal area of Nagpur, where a dispute between two groups escalated into stone-pelting and arson, resulting in vehicles being set ablaze. Police swiftly intervened, arresting 70 individuals, and have since brought the situation under control.
Following the violence, all police station chiefs in the city have been directed to remain on high alert. Security has been strengthened in sensitive areas, with continuous monitoring since last night.

Increase patrolling, with Crime Branch teams stepping up surveillance.
Encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity by contacting the Police Control Room at 112.
Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar has issued a stern warning against spreading false information or inflammatory messages on social media platforms. Those found responsible for circulating rumors will face strict legal action.
