Narayangaon: Nine Dead in Horrific Accident on Pune-Nashik Highway; CM Announces Financial Aid

Junnar, 17th January 2025: Nine people lost their lives in a road accident near Narayangaon on the Pune-Nashik highway. The incident occurred when a truck collided with a min van from behind, pushing it into a stationary bus ahead. Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Pankaj Deshmukh, provided details of the accident.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolences on social media platform X and announced financial aid for the families of the deceased. In his statement, Fadnavis said, “The incident of the death of nine people in a horrific accident near Narayangaon is very unfortunate. I pay my heartfelt tributes to them. We share the grief of their families. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
The Chief Minister also assured financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the heirs of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He further instructed the Pune Superintendent of Police to ensure proper medical care for the injured.

- Vinod Kerubhau Rokde (50, Kandli, Junnar)
- Yuvraj Mahadev Vavhal (23, Kandli, Junnar)
- Chandrakant Karbhari Gunjal (57, Kandli, Junnar)
- Geeta Baburao Gaware (45, Kandli, Junnar)
- Bhau Rabhaji Badhe (65, Nagdwadi, Kandli, Junnar)
- Najma Ahmed Hanif Sheikh (35, Gadhi Maidan, Khed Rajgurunagar)
- Vashifa Washim Inamdar (5)
- Manisha Nanasaheb Pacharne (56, Kandli, Junnar)
The accident claimed the lives of individuals with deeply personal stories. Manisha Pacharne, a primary school teacher from Anandwadi, was on her way to school when tragedy struck. She was set to retire in two years, leaving behind a legacy of dedication to education.
Another victim, Yuvraj Vavhal, a 23-year-old preparing for competitive exams in Narayangaon, was studying at a local academy and harbored dreams of a bright future.
The police are investigating the accident to determine the exact sequence of events and whether negligence played a role. Authorities are also working to ensure that the injured receive the necessary medical attention.
