National Lok Adalat in Pune on September 12; Citizens Can Settle Eligible Cases Without Lengthy Court Battles

Pune, 7th September 2026: A National Lok Adalat will be held across Pune district on September 12, 2026, to facilitate the settlement of pending and pre-litigation cases that are eligible for compromise, with the consent of both parties.
District Legal Services Authority Chairperson and Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju S. Shende has appealed to litigants, advocates and citizens to take advantage of the Lok Adalat and opt for settlement in eligible cases.
The Lok Adalat will be organised at the district headquarters as well as all taluka courts across Pune district.
Cases that can be referred for settlement include civil matters, compoundable criminal cases, Negotiable Instruments Act (N.I. Act) cases, land acquisition disputes, family matters, motor accident claims, bank-related cases, electricity bill disputes, consumer complaints, and disputes related to water taxes levied by gram panchayats, municipal councils and municipal corporations. Eligible pre-litigation cases can also be taken up.
Cases settled through the Lok Adalat may be eligible for a refund of court fees as per applicable rules. The process can also provide faster resolution while saving litigants time and money. Since settlements are reached through mutual consent, they can also help reduce disputes and bitterness between the parties.
A decision passed by the Lok Adalat cannot be appealed against, according to the district legal services authorities.
