NCERT Robotics Learning Centre Inaugurated by Union Minister of Education In Delhi; To Offer AI, Robotics Training
New Delhi, 3rd September 2026: Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the Robotics Learning Centre at the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) headquarters in New Delhi on September 1, marking NCERT’s 66th Foundation Day.
The centre has been established through a public-private partnership between NCERT, ZS and Robotex India. It will provide hands-on learning in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), space technology, drone technology, gamification and design thinking.
As part of the initiative, courses covering these areas are being developed for students from Grades 6 to 12. The courses will be made available through DIKSHA and PM e-VIDYA and will include multilingual access, periodic curriculum updates and assessments focused on employability.
The centre will also serve as an experiential learning space at NCERT, where students can receive mentoring in robotics and emerging technologies and participate in hackathons, competitions and other innovation-focused activities.
The initiative will support training for teachers and students across States, Union Territories and autonomous bodies, with the technologies also being incorporated into classroom learning. Innovations developed through these programmes will be showcased at national and international hackathons.
One of the features at the centre is Nova, an interactive AI-powered autonomous mobile robot (AMR), which demonstrates applications of robotics and AI.
During the inauguration, government school students demonstrated technology projects before the Union Education Minister. The projects included entrepreneurship, girls’ firefighting, maze-solving and line-following robotics.
The students explained the functioning of their projects and their potential real-world applications during the showcase.
The initiative is aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the NISHTHA teacher-training framework and has been established through CSR sponsorship and collaboration between ZS and Robotex India with NCERT.
The inauguration was attended by Anand Rao Patil, Additional Secretary, Department of Higher Education; Prachi Pandey, Joint Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy; Chamu Krishna Shastry, Chairman, Bharatiya Bhasha Samiti; NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani and other officials and representatives from the education and technology sectors.
