NDA Records Lowest Temperature in Pune at 8.7°C as Cold Wave Hits

Pune, 28th November 2024: The ongoing cold wave has intensified across Pune city, with both maximum and minimum temperatures dropping significantly. The temperatures have dipped below 10 degrees Celsius, causing both nights and days to feel noticeably chilly. Meteorologists forecast a further dip in temperatures over the coming days.
Temperature Highlights
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the lowest temperatures recorded in Pune today are:
Pashan: 10°C
Shivajinagar: 9.8°C
Haveli (Loni Kalbhor): 9.3°C
NDA: 8.7°C
The decline in temperature can be attributed to reduced humidity and dry weather conditions over the past few days. These factors have caused a consistent drop in both day and night temperatures, intensifying the cold wave across the region.
Senior meteorologist Anupam Kashyapi explained that a severe low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is likely to develop into Cyclone Fengal, which is expected to move northwestwards. The cyclone’s primary impact will be felt in Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.
However, Maharashtra is unlikely to experience cloudy weather due to this system. Instead, the cyclone is expected to reduce humidity in Maharashtra and Central India, further intensifying the flow of northerly winds. As a result, Pune’s night temperatures are predicted to drop even further.
