NEET-UG 2026 Paper Leak: CBI Arrests RCC Coaching Owner Shivraj Motegaonkar

Pune, 18th May 2026: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified another accused in the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak case.

A key accused, Prof. Shivraj Motegaonkar, owner of RCC Coaching Institute in Latur, has been arrested in connection with the NEET paper leak case. The institute, which prepares students for the NEET-UG examination, operates nine branches, with its main branch located in Latur.

According to the CBI, Motegaonkar is closely associated with P. V. Kulkarni, a chemistry lecturer linked to the National Testing Agency (NTA). Searches conducted at his institute and residence led to the recovery of a chemistry question bank that allegedly contained the exact questions that appeared in the NEET examination held on May 3.

In the last 24 hours, the CBI also carried out searches at five locations across different cities and seized several incriminating documents, laptops and mobile phones. Detailed analysis of the seized material is currently underway.

The CBI had registered the case on May 12, 2026, based on a written complaint filed by the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, regarding the alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper.

Soon after the case was registered, special investigation teams were formed and searches were conducted at multiple locations across the country. Several suspects were detained and interrogated during the operation.

So far, 10 accused have been arrested from Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, Pune, Latur and Ahilyanagar. Earlier, nine accused were produced before the court and remanded to police custody for further interrogation. The 10th accused is being produced before the court.

The investigation conducted so far has reportedly revealed the source of the leaked Chemistry and Biology question papers, which were allegedly circulated before the examination. The CBI has also arrested middlemen accused of mobilising students who allegedly paid lakhs of rupees to attend special coaching sessions where questions expected in the NEET-UG 2026 examination were discussed and dictated.
