Pune, 23rd May 2024 – Bollywood films have taken center stage on Netflix, outshining English movies on OTT platforms in 2024. Despite the availability of big Hollywood releases, Indian audiences have shown a strong preference for Bollywood content, driving several films to trend for weeks. As per Netflix’s data until May 19th, these movies are not just being watched once but repeatedly, indicating a significant shift in viewership patterns. Let’s delve into the films that have been ruling Netflix’s charts.

The Bollywood dominance on Netflix is evident from the consistent performance of several films. Among them, “Laaptaa Ladies,” directed by Kiran Rao, stands out despite its lackluster box office performance. Viewers have been captivated by the performances of Pratibha Ranta, Nitanshi Goel, and Sparsh Srivastava, keeping the film at the top for four weeks.

Following closely is “Shaitaan,” a supernatural thriller starring Ajay Devgn and R. Madhavan, which has maintained its spellbinding effect on Netflix for the past three weeks. Yami Gautam’s “Article 370,” although not remarkable in theaters, has found its stride on Netflix, garnering praise for Aditya Dhar’s direction and staying in the limelight for five weeks.

Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone’s pairing in ‘Fighter’ might not have garnered much attention in cinemas, but the film’s popularity surged on Netflix, maintaining its craze for nine weeks. However, the real standout is “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, and Tripti Dimri. This action-packed drama has been a consistent presence on Netflix for a whopping 16 weeks, cementing its position in the top 10 trending movies list.

Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra’s “Amar Singh Chamkila” also made waves on Netflix, surpassing Hollywood films and remaining on the platform for six weeks. These movies underscore Bollywood’s enduring influence, captivating audiences on digital platforms long after their theatrical releases.
