Pune, 28th April 2024: Pune Airport is gearing up to unveil its new terminal to travelers in the first week of May. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has confirmed that the new terminal will initially serve only Air India and Air India Express flights during its initial phase.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) recently granted approval for the operation of the new terminal, paving the way for specific aircraft testing in preparation for the launch. Currently, Pune Airport handles an average of 16 flights per day operated by Air India and Air India Express, which will double to 32 daily flights with the opening of the new terminal.
Director of Pune Airport, Santosh Dhoke, stated, “Although the approval from BCAS has been received, the formal letter is awaited. Once we have the letter in hand, we will commence the process of opening the new terminal to passengers. However, an exact date for the commencement cannot be confirmed at this stage.”
According to the AAI, flights from other airlines will continue to operate from the existing terminal, while Air India and Air India Express will conduct test flights to ensure a smooth passenger experience at the new terminal.
