Pune, 4th May 2026: In the wake of the tragic incident in Nasrapur, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Pune has decided not to celebrate party’s electoral victory with large-scale festivities. Despite the party’s success in the recent elections across five states, local leaders have chosen to observe restraint and mark the occasion in a simple manner.

The BJP secured significant gains in states including West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry, prompting celebrations by party workers in several parts of the country. However, in Pune, the party has opted for a subdued response.

The decision comes against the backdrop of the shocking and unfortunate incident in Nasrapur, where a three year old girl was raped and murdered by a 65-year-old person. BJP leaders in Pune said that organising grand celebrations in such circumstances would be inappropriate.

Instead, the party will mark the victory at its central office in Pune by performing ‘Bharat Mata Pujan’ and exchanging greetings in a low-key manner. Workers have been clearly instructed to avoid firecrackers, rallies or any large public celebrations.
