Pune/Pimpri, September 13, 2020: The number of Coronavirus disease (COVID19) patients in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad is increasing day by day. As a result, messages from social media and old videos are going viral. However, these are just rumours and no discussion has taken place regarding the lockdown.

Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a message. “The fake news that there will be another lockdown in Pune is being spread with old clips. This is false information and there is no such any discussion of Pune Municipal Corporation and administration. Strictly avoid forwarding when you receive such messages”.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Shravan Hardikar said that there is currently no discussion regarding lockdown. Even the Guardian Minister has not given any notice regarding the lockdown and only rumours are circulating at present. Citizens should not believe rumours. Corona patients are on the rise and citizens should follow the rules laid down for corona. People should maintain social distance and always wear a mask whenever they are out of the home.

Lockdown was carried out across the country from March 23 to prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease (COVID19). This had caused great distress to the citizens. This was followed by a phased unlock from May 19. While announcing the concession in the lockdown, some rules were made to stop the spread of Corona. However, due to non-compliance with the rules, the number of corona patients in the city is increasing day by day.

In the last ten to fifteen days, the daily number of patients in the Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad has crossed 2500-3000 mark. So rumours of lockdown were also rife in the city. In the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, a meeting was held between the Commissioners of Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, District Collector and other important officials. Rumours had been circulating in the city for two days that the meeting would lead to another lockdown as there was a lot of discussion about the growing number of patients. Some of the videos went viral on social media, causing unrest among the citizens.

However, in the discussions with the Deputy Chief Minister, only the facilities provided to the patients, strict implementation of the COVID preventive measures and administrative reforms were discussed. There was no discussion about again imposing lockdown, officials said.

The administration has appealed to the people not to believe the rumours about the lockdown as it has become clear that there will be no lockdown.

Traders oppose lockdown
The lockdown, which has been going on since March 23, has broken the back of small and big traders, including companies. Traders have not yet recovered from the losses caused by the lockdown. Even the lockdown in July was also opposed by traders. It also hit the traders. Against this backdrop, traders are bitterly opposed to the lockdown. Therefore, it is said that it is not so easy to announce a lockdown now.
