No More Fake Certificates? Pune University to Source Secure Printing from India Security Press Nashik
Pune, 20th September 2025: Degree certificates and mark sheets issued by Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will soon be more secure, as the university has decided to source pre-printed materials directly from the India Security Press (ISP) in Nashik. The move is aimed at strengthening confidentiality and preventing misuse of university documents.
The Indian Security Press, regarded as one of the world’s most secure printing facilities, prints passports for several countries, Indian postage stamps ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50,000, revenue department stamps, identity cards for military establishments, and mark sheets for Kendriya Vidyalayas. Leveraging the same standards, SPPU certificates will now incorporate additional security features.
A committee headed by Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Parag Kalkar, along with Registrar Prof. Jyoti Bhakere, Director of Examinations Dr. Prabhakar Desai, and deans and senior faculty members, recently visited the Nashik press to understand the procurement process. The report submitted by the committee was later approved by the University Management Council and Procurement Committee.
“The decision will not only strengthen the security of degree certificates but will also save the university crores of rupees in expenses,” said Sagar Vaidya, a member of the Management Council.
The proposal to source pre-printed material from ISP was first raised in a Management Council meeting two years ago. Under the guidance of Vice Chancellor Dr. Suresh Gosavi, the university has now finalized the plan. Officials said the new system would ensure reliability, compliance with security standards, and greater protection against forgery.
