Mumbai, 16th August 2021: Maharashtra government today revised the lockdown order to allow children below 18 years to visit malls as at present vaccination is not allowed for them.

Last week, the state government had allowed malls to open till 10 pm on all days except cinema halls/multiplex theatres. However, only those people are allowed to visit who have taken both doses of the Coronavirus disease (COVID19) vaccine and completed 14 days after the second dose. This resulted in policy paralysis as the malls were confused about whether or not to allow children inside the malls.

Today, State Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte issued a revised order for the malls. The order states:

All Shopping Malls in the state are allowed to remain open till 10 pm on all days, provided all customers/citizens entering the mall and all employees including managers and housekeeping staff, must have a valid final Covid vaccination certificate of having received 2 dose and 14 days must have lapsed since 2d dose of Covid vaccine.

All customers/citizens need to show their final Covid vaccination certificate with Photo identity Proof at the entry point of the mall.

Since, vaccination for the population below l8 years has not yet started, all children below 18 years of age need to show documents for their age proof like Aadhar card, PAN card issued by Income Tax department, valid School or college Identity cards with mention of the date of Birth, at the entry point of the malls.
