Pune, 27th April 2025: Following the brutal terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that all Pakistani citizens currently in the state will be sent back by today evening or tomorrow. His strong statement came in response to nationwide outrage after the killing of 26 people, including five tourists from Maharashtra.

Among the deceased are two residents of Pune — Kaustubh Ganbote and Santosh Jagdale — whose deaths have further fueled anger and grief across the state.

Speaking to reporters, Chief Minister Fadnavis, who also holds the Home portfolio, said, “I am saying this as the Home Minister — no Pakistani citizen is missing. All Pakistani nationals in Maharashtra have been identified and arrangements have been made to send them away. By this evening or tomorrow, there will not be a single Pakistani citizen left in the state.”

The cowardly attack, which targeted unarmed tourists in the scenic region of Pahalgam, has drawn widespread condemnation. Citizens and leaders across the country have expressed their shock and demanded strict action.

Sources said that local authorities have intensified efforts to identify and expedite the departure of all Pakistani citizens residing in Maharashtra as per the Chief Minister’s directive.

The incident is being seen as a major trigger for a nationwide review of the presence of Pakistani nationals across various states. Security measures have also been stepped up in sensitive areas following the attack.
