Nothing OS 3.0: Carl Pei Unveils September Launch for New Software Update
Pune, 17th June 2024: Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, has revealed a preview of the upcoming Nothing OS 3.0 software, slated for a September release. The update promises to introduce customizable lock screen options, allowing users to personalize their devices with default clock and widget configurations or extended widget options. Earlier this month, Pei also announced that the next smartphone from Nothing, the Nothing Phone 3, will feature advanced AI capabilities.
The forthcoming update, Nothing OS 3.0, aims to enhance user experience with several new features. As Carl Pei showcased the software, he confirmed that the update would be available by September this year. The main highlight is the customizable lock screen, giving users three different options to tailor their lock screens according to their preferences. These options include the default setting, a clock + widgets setting, and an extended widgets setting.
Detailed images shared by Pei show the extent of the customization available. The default lock screen will display standard clock, date, and day styles. The clock + widgets option will allow changes to the font of the time display and add functionalities like weather and contact widgets. One of the notable designs is a dotted font for the clock, accompanied by additional widgets for weather and contacts.
In related news, Carl Pei has disclosed that the next smartphone, Nothing Phone 3, will integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) features. In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Pei mentioned that the company is actively designing and prototyping AI interactions for the upcoming device.
The Nothing Phone 3 is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. This enhancement is anticipated to significantly improve the phone’s performance, battery life, and charging capabilities. These advancements are part of Nothing’s ongoing efforts to innovate and provide cutting-edge technology to its users.
