Now People Above 50 Years Will Get Corona Vaccine From March 1, Central Government Tells States To Make Arrangements

New Delhi, February 22, 2021: After health workers and frontline personnel, preparations have been intensified to give corona vaccine to people over 50 years of age.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of the states asking them to make arrangements for wide-scale vaccination preparations in all types of health centres as vaccination for people over 50 years of age and sick will start in March.

In the letter, the Health Secretary has asked the states to start preparations for vaccination in all health centres from March 1. They have been asked to make arrangements in hospitals, medical colleges, primary health centres and sub-centres. These centres have been asked to prepare the necessary cold chains for vaccination.

The Chief Secretaries have been asked to ensure that the corona vaccination program is run at least four days a week and from March 1, it should be in extended format. Chief secretaries have been asked to issue instructions in this regard to health officials.

The Health Secretary said that vaccination started on 16 January and has crossed the 1 crore mark on 18 February. He said that a large number of health workers and frontline workers have not yet come to get the vaccine. Efforts are on to ensure that all such people are vaccinated.

He said that necessary arrangements have also been made in the CoWin app to register people who are over 50 years. The number of people over 50 years of age and sick persons is estimated to be around 27 crores.
