Now, SC/ST candidates will get financial aid for UPSC main examination

Pune, December 4, 2020: After raising strong objection, Maharashtra state government has withdrawn new a condition which denied the financial assistant to the candidates from SC/ST appearing for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) services Main Examination-2020 . The financial assistance was denied as they have already taken the benefit of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute ( BARTI).
Every year, Maharashtra state government gives one time financial assistant of Rs 50,000 to the candidate who has qualified UPSC preliminary examination through BARTI. However, this year it added a new clause which mentioned, candidates who had taken benefit of Maharashtra Six Division Training Program through BARTI earlier is not eligible for financial assistance. Similarly, candidates taken benefit of Delhi Training Program through BARTI too were not eligible.
Candidates taken benefit of YASHADA, Pune and SIAC – Mumbai, Pre IAS – Kolhapur, Nasik, Aurangabad, Nagpur and Amravati) Mains Examination Training earlier too were not eligible.
Candidate if taking any benefit for UPSC Civil Services Main Examination – 2020 from State / Central Government is not eligible for this scheme.
Due to which, candidates were upset. They took strong objection on the new criterion. Finally, government had to roll back the clause and issued a new circular.
Now, according to the new circular dated December 2, 2020 few of the conditions have been removed conditions. However, government continued with the condition that candidates taken benefit of YASHADA, Pune Mains Examination Training earlier will not be eligible.
